Thanks for taking the time to read this site, Guinea Pigs by SA Design!
My name is Michael Royston and have had Guinea pigs since I was 13 years old, yes long before premium Guinea Pig pellets where available in the market place.
About me... Co-founder of the South African Guinea Pig Society, founder of the Irish Cavy Council and the Guinea Pig Fancy a free international register of all registered Guinea Pigs.
It is a great passion of mine to bring as much knowledge to owners of Guinea Pigs as I possibly can.
The site is here to be a support to you the guinea pig owner, gathering bits of information together, so that you may have this knowledge presented to you in a concise relevant format accessible at your finger tips.
The Guinea Pig is what we commonly call our furry friend, however the Guinea Pig is also known as the Cavy internationally. I have decided to refer to our furry friend as the Guinea Pig as the name has such a fun orientation and is pretty generic.
The Guinea Pig is a species of rodent belonging to the family Caviidae.
My favourite part about the naming of the Guinea pig, is that despite their common name, they are no relation to the pig family whatsoever.
